Champions League!!!!

Hey, you know what I like?!?! Bicycle Kicks!

Today the Viola won 1-0 to finish the Series A season in fourth place. They have qualified for the Champions League. The winning goal was scored on a stunning overhead kick by Pablo Osvaldo in the 76th minute.

Congrats to Torino who came to play today, played a hell of a match, and scared me to death on every counter.

Congrats to Milan who won big today (4-1) and did the best they could with the situation out of their hands. They were worthy antagonists all season.

Most importantly, congratulations to Fiorentina; the organization, the coaching staff, the players, and the fans. What we’ve done in the space of five years is incredible, and Champions League football next season is a just reward. I am so proud of this team.

Much more to come later today and all week, including the match recap and thoughts about next season. Everyone lift a glass in honor of our favorite team today.

  FORZA VIOLA! Osvaldo is already a big game player, that’s one kid that deserves a long term contract. While we didn’t always make it easy, we are in Europe as we deserve to be, and as you said the progress this team has made over the past few years has been nothing short of wonderful.

  Nice work to Fiorentina. From everything I’ve seen this season, you deserve a shot at Champions League football, though it will be strange for a lot of us neutrals not to see Milan there. Excellent season – you should be proud of them.

  Congrats to all viola supportors!!! u guys definitely deserve it not just based on this season, but also from last season too where yall deserved to be in the CL but the pts deduction kept ur team out. so enjoy it! the CL is great, but look out for milan next season in the serie a cuz we’re coming back

  Can someone explain how the qualifying rounds for the CL work? Do the Viola have to go through qualifying in the summer n order to make it to group stage?

  Nick – They’ll enter the last round of qualifying and play against another side who finished low in thier league or won a ‘less competitive’ league. If they win that game over two legs, they’ll be in the group stage of the Champions League.

  it was a thrilling evening, knowing milan saw off udinese. but we deserve it, the CL. i’m sure our beloved viola will do very well in the CL. This team is a good team, most of them have played together for a while. So, i’m optimistic bout next season.
