So you’ll be in qualifying with 4th placed teams from England and Spain, Third placed teams from France and Germany and whoever is left from third placed team from Russia and runner ups from Romania, Portugal, Netherlands, Scotland, Turkey, Ukraine, Belgium, Greece and the Czech Republic.

Im not sure if co-efficients matter in the draw, but even if they do there is a strong chance fiorentina could get Celtic or Sporting Lisbon or FC Twente or one of the Russian teams.

The winners of these five ties progress to the play-off round, where they are joined by the fourth-placed sides from the associations ranked 1 to 3 and the third-placed teams from the associations ranked 4 and 5. The victorious teams from the five play-off ties qualify for the UEFA Champions League group stage.

As of 2009, the UEFA Champions League commences with a round-robin group stage of 32 teams, which is preceded by two qualification ’streams’ for teams which do not receive direct entry to the tournament proper. The two streams are divided between teams which have qualified by virtue of being league champions, and those which have qualified by virtue of finishing 2nd-4th in their national championship.

The number of teams that each association enters into the UEFA Champions League is based upon the UEFA coefficients of the member associations. These coefficients are generated by the results of clubs representing each association during the previous five Champions League and UEFA Cup seasons. The higher an association’s coefficient, the more teams which represent the association in the Champions League and the fewer qualification rounds that the association’s teams must compete in.

The number of places in the competition is currently allocated as so:

associations ranked 1 to 3 have four positions,
associations ranked 4 to 6 have three positions,
associations ranked 7 to 15 have two positions,
associations ranked 16 or lower have one position.

So Fioorentina have to play a team from one of the top 15 ranked countries cos below 16 theyre in another qualifying stream

So, doing research via that link Kadainja posted, it seems that we won’t know whom we shall play until 7 August, and the chaps go back into competitive action on 18/19 August, with the return a week later.

no we wouldn’t go against arsenal.
we have the highest co eff of the unseeded teams.

theorectically we’d go against partizan belgrade or slava prague again.

we can easily play arsenal or lyon as panathanaikos shaktar donetsk and sporting lisbon have better coefficients – if at least two of them win their 3rd round matches then we will not be seeded so will play the likes of arsenal
