Fiorentina – Bologna

By: Ted | January 31st, 2009

Due to family obligations I will be unable to preview tomorrow’s game vs. Bologna. I am just posting this brief note so we have a place to put our reactions to the match as it happens.

A decent preview of the match can be found here.

Right now the game is not scheduled to be shown on US Television, so any help with finding steams for our dedicated fans would be much appreciated.

I will be back Sunday night or Monday with game reactions and, hopefully, some firm news about transfers.

Also, I predict a 2-0 win.

Forza Viola, everyone.

Vargas does not deserve to start over Pasqual, I don’t care how much he cost.

You know what I want to see? Batigol condemn Osvaldo, I wonder how the little shit would react.

    lol
soccer players should not brawl period, much less try to mix it up with a boxer:

Rome-based radio station Rete Sport has claimed this morning that Roma centre-back Philippe Mexes was involved in a scuffle with a boxer last night.

The incident apparently happened at the renowned Gilda dance club. It is reported that the 26-year-old had a heated discussion with this individual and a brawl ensued.

Mexes was taken to a local hospital to receive treatment and was later discharged.

Italian news agency ANSA adds that compatriot Jeremy Menez was also on the scene and the pair were β€˜assaulted’ by a group of Lazio supporters, but they eventually decided not to press charges when the police arrived.

The Frenchman was in action yesterday afternoon, as Roma drew 2-2 at Reggina.

i saw part of lazio this weekend

with the exception of zarate, lazio looked horrible
    imo

that should be another 2-0, 3-1 type game.

Indeed slakas, footballers are not scrappers, or at least should not be. They’re not used to using their freaking hands (Gila excepted). For example when ZiZou was so riled by Materrazi, what was his natural inclination? Hit him with his head! What else? LOL.

When you play against a team like the Viola and are distracted it is difficult to recover. In the second half we tried to come back, but Fiorentina’s success is well deserved,” he told Sky immediately following the match.

“We were caught being naive twice in our defending and we paid for these errors; these types of problems make me angry. However, we did do some things well, just not well enough.”

New Bologna recruit Pablo Daniel Osvaldo played the match from start to finish against his former club.

“Osvaldo took a step backwards from the match against Atalanta, he must be more decisive,” concluded Mihajlovic

i had visions of the squad all huddled up last night around a fireplace in some ritzy bologna hotel while san cesare beguilded them with positive and heart warming stories..

Fiorentina coach Cesare Prandelli was very satisfied with his team’s performance at the end of today’s match against Bologna.

The game was initially postponed yesterday due to a heavy snowfall, but today it received the go-ahead after things improved from the weather point of view.

“Against Bologna I saw a very careful and reactive team,” commented the former Parma coach to Sky.

“We were good and from the first goal we built the game. When you are 2-0 up, you must maintain a high attention.

“We lowered it a bit too much and we went into difficulties. Despite this, we searched and found the third goal.”

Thanks to this win Fiorentina have overtaken Roma in fifth place, just two points behind fourth-placed Genoa in the race for a Champions League spot.

LOL Mexes. That man is so hilarious. I saw a picture of what was purported to be his birthday cake — it was modeled to represent a Gucci handbag. Men with birthday cakes like that should not get into brawls with boxers.

Actually, on the media thing, I’m surprised I’ve not seen more stories on Genoa’s rise. Admittedly, I don’t look for them like I look for Viola stories, but they’re surprising enough there should be plenty of English-language stories about them. Us competing for a CL spot isn’t that new. Genoa competing for a CL spot is new. And yet I hear nothing.

yeppers, genoa is very much under the radar over here.

I had been keeping my eye on them because I’m a degenerate gambler and they are money on their home pitch, but recently they’re getting results on the road as well.

    sounds rather familiar,
kinda like what we need to keep doing
    lol

I decided to keep half an eye on them after I became fond of Criscito and Bocchetti during the Azzurini’s run at the Olympics (which I was watching purely for Montolivo). Of course I’d rather they weren’t ahead of us, but I’m pleased they’re doing well.

The media can’t waste their time on such things, they might miss Becks sneezing or taking his children to the park!

they’re not money at home any more.

genoa’ve drawn 3 out of the last 5
and the draws were bologna, atalanta and catania

    BUT
they’ve gotten at least a pt in the last 10 matches
    interesting.
