Fiorentina: News and Notes

By: Ted | March 17th, 2008

201351_hp.jpgAfter a good football day yesterday, today is a bit quiet on the newsfront. Here’s what’s happening in the purple world.

We’ll start with a nice article explaining how the Great Man is satisfied with yesterday’s win. As he should be, presumably.

Next, we have a very happy Adrian Mutu, happy because he played yesterday, happy because the Viola won, and happy because he played at a level pretty close to awesome. And that makes me happy, too.

Here we have the Goal.com player ratings for the match. Goal.com kinda grades on a high scale, so players sometime get scores as high as 9.5. That’s fine. But to have that grade available and then give Bassy Frey a 7.5 is criminal. He was at least a 9.0 yesterday if I ever saw one.

Less happily, Gamberini (3 weeks) and Jorgensen (7 to 10 days) are out with ouchies. Great. Like we needed more injuries.

Finally, here are the goals from yesterday’s game. Enjoy!

I’ll be back tomorrow with the Napoli preview….Have a good day, everybody.

i just hope viola will keep taking points.it might sound strange, but even for milan,it will be a good thing if they dont qualify to champions league,it will remind them that they have to renew their squad.

The injuries are difficult, but here’s hoping for the best tomorrow against Napoli. Could be a high-scoring affair!

I doubt highly it’ll be a high scoring affair. The Viola don’t score much on the road (though you’ve only lost 3 times) and Napoli don’t surrender many at home (though the San Paolo has not been the fortress it was the past few years). Napoli simply don’t have the goal scoring prowess to trouble your backline, I don’t believe. As a Napoli supporter I’d be ecstatic with a draw though I fear we’re way too undisciplined to handle Mutu, Montolivo and co.

I’d love to say good luck, Viola, but I can’t bring myself to it. Let’s just say, I’m hoping you win the EUFA Cup and finish the season 3rd.
