Fiorentina: News and Notes
By: Ted | May 2nd, 2008On the heels of yesterday’s soul-crushing loss to Rangers, we have a relatively large influx of Viola news for today. I’m just going to pass these along and take the rest of the day off before coming back with a preview of the Cagliari match by (hopefully) Saturday night.
By the way, thanks to everyone (Viola fans, Rangers fans, and neutrals) who have commented on the match in the various posts. All the posts showed a lot of passion, and a few were laugh-out-loud funny, even when they were at Fiorentina’s expense. I’m glad to see a Fiorentina game is getting so much attention, even if it was the wrong result for the good guys. Anyway, onto the links.
First, here is some rare attention paid to the Viola by ESPN, who focus on Ranger’s negative play.
Next, we have Fiorentina bigwig Della Valle, master of the obvious.
Viola midfielder Fabio Liverani apologies for missing the pen yesterday. I, for one, accept.
Here’s a story suggesting Lazio is going after Pazzini this summer. And from SUCH a reputable source.
Finally, it looks like Donadel will be out for the Cagliari match, while Bobo Vieri might be out for the remainder of the season. That last one might be a mercy-killing.
I’ll be back tommorow with the Cagliari preview!

Why would you leave an ambitious team with level headed ownership and lots of promise for LAZIO?

What happened on thursday shouldn’t bring us down…were still having a spectacular season, were heading for the champions league, we established ourselves as a serious european team, and we beat juvemerda!!!! all in one season!!!! You have no idea how proud i am of this team!!!

As a CELTIC fan I have to say that to my eternal shame ( as a Scotsman) I was cheering for Fiorentina over Rangers. Bottom line, you were not good enough! Rangers were awful, boring, sad, pathetic, did not deserve to win but you lot could not beat them. You had plenty of possesion but ran out of ideas in the last quarter, your team was very skilful but when it mattered they ran out of ideas, la Viola should have won and certainly were the better team but don’t critisise Rangers for your shortcomings. They set themselves up not to lose, Fiorentina failed to beat them. Rangers were there to be beaten Fiorentina could not do it, don;t blame Rangers.

to tell you the truth,i’m dissapointed by pazzini and montolivo, especially by pazzini.i say we should sell him and replace him with gilardino or ,hopefully, adriano.i would love to see adriano in a purple jersey.he is the complete striker for me.plus,he’s still young, and knows mutu and prandelli from his parma days.

So I was reading that Bobo is done with yet another team and ready to move on, perhaps even to the MLS.

I know he has eons of experience and La Viola are pretty young team, but do you think he was a positive asset (missed pk aside)? I cant help but think that taking him on this season was a shock-and-awe / marketing tactic.
Will the team (or fans) miss him?
