Just A Quick Hello
By: Ted | October 10th, 2008
I wanted to say hello to everyone and let you all know that our beloved Viola is still very much on my mind. With the International break upon us, I have decided to take a little break from posting for the week to spend a bit more time with the family while there’s no footy on the TV. Rest assured I will be back and rearing to go when the boys get back to work next week with both league and CL games coming up after the break.
While the break has been going on there’s been a bit of news going around about the team, ranging from inspiring (Stefano Borgonovo’s charity match and the return of the Divine ponytail in a Fiorentina shirt, which is where he belongs) to the slightly depressing (My man Giampaolo Pazzini is unhappy about his playing time) to the absurd filler-type news that always comes to the front when the papers have no real news to report (like the Great Man going to Juve. God Forbid.) Anyway, I’m trying not to get caught up in all that stuff, so I will just let it rest until next week.
Finally, I have to give a special shout-out to all the guys who contribute to the Viola discussion board below and always do such a great job, especially when I’m slacking off. I feel that, between them, we always get the most important news covered. Sorry I don’t know your real names, fellas, and only what you post under, but special thanks to Slakas, Alessio, Ursus Arctos, Nolan, and everyone else who posts and makes this place a fun, interesting online community to be a part off.
I will be back well before next Saturday’s matchup with Reggina. Take care everyone, and enjoy the week off!

Here is the original interview with Pazzo, albeit butchered through the always-amusing medium of Google Translate. It has quite a bit more than the Goal.com article, including comments on how he’s a joker in the locker room (he once cut up a particularly atrocious suit of Gamberini’s while everyone applauded), his friendship with Lucatoni, and his commitment to Fiorentina.

I’m glad to contribute in any little way I can.
I really hope Pazzini gets his chances this season. The talent is there and he’s dedicated to the club, but he just can’t seem to get his confidence up; I’m sure Gila’s form isn’t helping. I still believe in him and believe Prandelli can unleash his potential.
Also that picture brings a tear to my eye. It was great to see so many Viola legends assemble – if there is one thing this club can be proud of, it’s the impact it leaves on those who put on that wonderful purple shirt.

Like Ted, I too thank you guys for your contributions here. I’ve looked at other Fiorentina fan sites and the ones I’ve seen are filled with The Shallow Fan, the ones who like to say they are supporters, write “Forza Viola!”, etc, but don’t really know the game. They’re like Chicago Cubs fans who sit in the sun-drenched bleachers, get hammered with their backs to the game, and not know anything about the team or baseball in general. Don’t get me wrong, that’s a good time, but they’re not knowledgable fans. You guys however, have good insights into Fiore, Serie A, and the dynamics and tactics of The Beautiful Game. I appreciate it – keep it coming!
