Terrorist? Osvaldo was just re-enacting the way Batistuta would celebrate after his goals when he would play for Viola. It was not meant as a violent thing, the idea was that he would score so often it was like quick-fire.
Osvaldo has boldly chosen jersey no. 9, he is from Argentina and used to be a huge Batigol fan.

As for the game, I think Viola fans couldn’t have asked for more, perfect game! It was just amazing. A last minute win against the loathed gobbi, ahhhh.

Tim – I agree about Santana, a full strength Santana will take us to the next level. It’s great to see our forward line have good games even without Mutu, I didn’t know what to think of the Waigo swap but it looks to have been a brilliant move. I thought Pazzini looked decent too, not one of his finest games but at the very least he is much sharper than he was in the first half of the season.

Holy Viola, Batman!
Fiorentina showed a resolve today that I didn’t think they had. Papa Waigo was my man of the match. He only played 20 or so minutes, but he invigorated the Viola and scored a beauty past Buffon.
Good as Ranieri is, he botched the subs, taking out both Camo and Del Piero. He should have left one in, just in case.
On another blog I bet my left nut that the Florentines would give away the CL spot to Milan, but after watching the Prandelli’s boys today I can’t help but hope they get to Europe’s biggest stage.
Now if only Napoli can find a way past Inter….

Calling him a terrorist is a bit much Adam. Not sure if that will give him a longer ban, but as soon as he took off his jersey he was done for the day (first yellow was a hack on the very impressive Palladino). The Viola are short attacking options with Mutu on the shelf.

I was ready to slam Osvaldo for a poor performance before the match winner. He was consistently offside and not particularly impressive until the goal. Papa Waigo, on the other hand, showed tremendous finishing ability, and an excellent willingness to track back on defense, win the ball and connect well with passes.

And, as usual, big ups to Prandelli. Excellent decision not to start old man Bobo to be able to attack on the wings. Great game by Jorgensen and an excellent start for Santana. I still hope Santana works his way back to full fitness soon because the team is the strongest with him in it. But this should give tremendous confidence to Papa Waigo and Osvaldo and Fiorentina will need them both in the stretch run. One point behind Juve and 4 clear of AC Milan. Tremendous!
