One More Viola Fan The World Must Contend With
By: Ted | June 5th, 2008I wanted to apologize to everyone for the lack of Fiorentina-related posts recently. This week my wife gave birth to a beautiful baby boy named Thomas. He is our first child, and both he and Mom are fine.
I will probably only be posting sporadically for the next few weeks, both for obvious reasons and because the football world is going to slow down to take in what looks to be a very strong Euro Tournament this year. Please bear with me. The Viola may not be the most important thing in my life, but they’re still a high priority.
In the meantime, does anyone know where I can get some Fiorentina baby clothes?

Auguri!
It is an incredible thing, and the beginning of a truly amazing adventure.
As to suitable attire:

As to news:
The Vargas deal still isn’t done, though it continues to be reported as being “vicino”. Speriamo.
The Viola lost 2-1 to Samp last night in the semifinal of the Primavera championship. Samp were the better team (the Viola scored on an own goal) and will face Inter in the final for the second consecutive year, but getting that far (and their performance during the season) are very good news for Progetto Viola. The Viola XI was: Seculin, Aya, Bettoni, Cardinali, Tagliani, Casoli, Diakhate, Di Carmine, Fedi, Lepiller, Romizi.
Felipe Melo is having his presentation press conference this afternoon, and is quoted as saying that he wants to be the “new Dunga”.
Reveillere still seems to be in the frame for a possible move to Firenze.
Mutu lost the damages phase of the FIFA arbitration with Chelsea over his cocaine suspension, subsequent loss of value and damage to the image of the club. He’s been ordered to pay Chelsea 12 million euro, which is about a third of their original demand three years ago.

Congratulations buddy! Hopefully your son will grow up to support your club and not your rivals to annoy you. Glad all is well.

Congratulations!
And on a more sober note, what is up with the Tavano links? Why would la Viola ever want him?

Nolan: We would want Tavano because he came through our youth system and we need guys like that for the CL. That’s the only reason.

Congrats, Ted!
In other news, building off Ursus’ comment, the Romanian press are screaming about Mutu being BANKRUPT!, and he’s put in a formal request to talk pay rise, supposedly to match the €4 million he’s being offered elsewhere.

And he won’t get it from us. Needs a new shoe deal.

Mutu’s lawyer said tonight that they will appeal to the TAS in Lausanne; I think it will be another several months before he actually has to part with any cash.

Auguri, Ted!
My wife and I had a daughter a month ago, and I posted some pics of her with a Viola scarf on Fio.it. I’d also like to get some baby Viola gear but the shipping is pretty prohibitive.
I think you’ll find it interesting how you’ll have to trim some of the things in which you’re interested. La Viola are almost the only thing I have left outside of la nuova bambina!

Congrats, Ted. Start early on the Viola fan. My boys – 6 and 8 – are moving in this direction but like to say they prefer Roma and AC to irritate me.

Congrats Ted. A memorable year for you so far..most importantly the birth of a healthy baby boy and the Viola getting into CL (kicking AC Milan into UEFA cup zone to hopefully eventually match up with my Napoli). I love it!!!! Auguri!!!
