Considering [Vargas] only as a LB, he was caught up field too often, didn’t cross well and looked unsettled.

I think this is unfair. I believe Prandelli put him at LB, expecting him to play an active attacking role, which means Prandelli needs to have a plan B when Vargas is caught upfield. And he didn’t. He wanted Vargas to run all the way back, too. Vargas is fast, but he wasn’t fast enough. I don’t think you can isolate the one from the other.

When Pasqual and Prandelli finally made up, it fixed the problem.

Our defense is only as decent as it is because of Frey and the midfield having to track back. The truth is we need both sides to improve if we want to get any better than we are, but a centre back is definitely first priority.

I just don’t understand why of all players, we’d buy Panucci. The man is both old and has a poor attitude, isn’t that a horrible combination?

while this is a review of our defense, the numbers say our defense is not that bad. 4th best in terms of goals allowed. sure we really need a CB for gambit, but we are not scoring enough goals, even if our attacking players seem pretty good. i look forward to the forthcoming reviews, awesome format.

haven’t heard anything about us picking him up, thats extremely exciting.

i say we need a good tall physical centre-back, and a right sided full-back for reinforcements in defence. i’m not sure if burdisso is the right choice since he’s pretty rusted and too similar to gamberini.
