Viola Get Gila

By: Ted | May 28th, 2008

Just a quick post right now to let you all know that ESPN Soccernet is now reporting that Alberto Gilardino has officially signed a five-year deal with Fiorentina, and that the signing will be formally announced in Florence tomorrow morning. No other details were forthcoming.

ESPN tends to be fairly cautious about reporting rumors, so I am going to assume this one will (as expected) happen. It’s only good news for the Viola, who now have world-class help up front, and someone who flourished in his time previous time under the Great Man.

I’ll have more as it become available.

Great signing by the Viola. You’ll need it as CL is world class stuff.

good signing. we’ll have a lethal finishing for next season.
but I’m disappointed to hear that the only problem of the failure to sign barzagli is a very small amount of money.

and montolivo has been dropped out of italy squad. take your time, monto. n show us more next season.

Is it offical that Monto has been dropped? Also has anyone heard anything about next year’s strip? I’m praying that I’ll not have to wear another poor quality Lotto shirt, I like the design it’s just shoddily made!!

It is official about Montolivo. I read on goal.com that 10 teams are after Vargas, including Real and Itner. After all the “looks like he’s definitely going to Florence” talk and then silence for the last few days, it must be a bad sign. It is too bad about Barzagli. A backline with Gamberini, Vargas and Barzagli in three of the spots would have been awesome.

According to Stadio, Fiorentina and Catania are about to carry out the negotiation for peruvian wingback Juan Manuel Vargas; the tuscan club is trying to overtake Juventus Roma and Real Madrid by making an immediate offer of 12 million Euros cash or the same amount, including striker Daniele Cacia; once the agreement with the sicilian club is found the player would be ready to sign a five year deal.

    Maybe Vargas deal getting closer…

Vargas and Fiorentina are always closer. Seems that Viola and Catania have reached an economical agreement, we are speaking about 13 million euros. Doesn’t seem that there will be particular obstacle for negotiation. After the purchases of Gilardino, the arrival of the external seems another great purchase of Pantaleo Corvino.
