As for the more serious discussion, I’d say Tank the UEFA Cup. It’s not like it’s that great of something to win. And I think you guys can still finish in the Top 4. Milan is already dipping a little bit and I think that is just a sign of things to come. Teams like Udinese and to a great extent, Napoli, in my opinion, cannot sustain the winning ways they showed early on in the season and you can see that already. What is Napoli’s record in the last few games? Not very good as I recall … I think if Fiorentina can just get everything together and build a system around getting Gila better service (horrible service over the weekend), y’all can still finish top 4. Just hoping we can too.

Transfer rumors at this time of year are always amusing, and it’s only increased because we just got knocked out of the CL. I agree with slakas in that I see Papa Wagio leaving this January (I don’t think he’s even seen the pitch in the league this season), and only one of the excess strikers Osvaldo/Pazzini going. I hope it’s Osvaldo who’s gone, because I like Pazzo and Osvi has been annoying me lately. But then, of course, I think maybe it’s better for Pazzo if he leaves, seeing as even an ineffective Gilardino is keeping him on the bench. (Not, mind, that Pazzo’s made much use of his chances when he’s had them.) And I think I agree with everyone when I say I hope we see the last of Almiron’s freakishly bald head.

I don’t suppose there’s a chance we’ll get Ujfalusi back, is there? He’s not that popular at Atletico and we really could use his defensive skill…

Add me to the “want the UEFA Cup” crowd. Competing in Europe is important for the “progetto”, for experience and for the budget. Last year’s run demonstrated that, and the fact that we would make it in through the “back door” this time doesn’t really change the dynamic.

Keep in mind that we are talking about a “real” last 32, no bogus group stages, so the disruption of the Serie A campaign is lessened.

alessio — frankly, I’d rather we don’t aim for the UEFA Cup and instead give everything we have to Serie A. I think the lack of mid-week games would really help. But unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on whom you ask) we have too much pride to admit that, and we’ll keep fighting for whatever prize we can get.
